Quotidian Moments
The following is an abridged version of the artist statement for Quotidian Moments. This is an ongoing collaborative project between Rhaelene and Anna Zusman. For the full artist statement, go to the link for this project at the end of this statement.
Rhaelene Lowther and Anna Zusman live in rural Arkansas and teach art at Southern Arkansas University. They regularly go on walks together and became interested in transformation and change including changes of weather, light, how seasons affected the landscape and lifecycles of animals. They were also very interested how they saw the same things on their walks but they interpreted them very differently.
For their series Quotidian Moments through Different Lenses they create separate artworks based on things that they see on their walks; interpreting the same experience in nature in different conceptual and stylistic ways.
Rhaelene and Anna enjoy collaborating with other artists and seeing a great variety of stylistic interpretations of the same inspiration. They hope that their very different artwork based on the same inspirations will encourage viewers to try their hand at interpreting artistically what they see in their own way.
